Dee Ruel Jewelry April 1, 2010
After our earlier post on Wedding jewelry it got me thinking how daunting a task it is to find the perfect Bridesmaids gifts. You want something personal, memorable and most of all thoughtful. To me, there is nothing kinder than a handmade gift and jewelry is the perfect option. (You could even match the beads to your wedding colors so they can wear the jewelry day of.) This is where where Dee Ruel comes in. A jewelry designer based in Mt. Pleasant, SC Dee has been making jewelry for brides to be and their guests for years. I stopped in just the other day, described what I needed and in less than ten minutes Dee was already at her bead table working away and I walked out fifteen minutes later with a new bauble. Her earrings have graced the lobes of Tiffani Thiessen and Jane Kim of the USA network’s White Collar. Check out her website here!
Be back next week with new engagement shoots! -Gillian

Sarah + Matt Engagement March 10, 2010
Sarah and Matt are the kind of couple that just make you smile. You can tell that they are the best of friends and enjoy spending time together…and isn’t that what it’s all about? For their engagement session they chose Pawley’s island as Sarah’s family owns homes there and it is where she spent her childhood summers and the site of her upcoming wedding. We started the shoot at the “Hammock Shops” to take advantage of the greenery and brick paths.
Wedding Wishing Fountain!
As wedding photographers we hear amazing proposal stories and Matt’s has to be one of our favorites. Every year around Christmas he creates a calendar for Sarah chronicling their year together. Each month has a different photo of the couple. But this year the calendar included a special photograph that Sarah had never seen… it was a photo of her engagement ring!
After shooting at the Hammock Shops we wandered on to frolic at the beach
Summer Lovin’
And then we took a brief walk over to the Pawley’s desert… just kidding, still the beach. It looks pretty secluded though!
And we had a romantic sunset to finish off the day!

Sarah Nell + Robert Engagement March 5, 2010
Sarah Nell and Robert chose Park Circle and the picturesque Riverfront park of North Charleston as the location of their engagement shoot. Both local Charlestonians and Clemson grads, the two have deep roots in the area and this location holds special meaning. We started the shoot in Park Circle where there is a street named after one of Sarah Nell’s ancestors. While walking along we stumbled upon this great red wall that provides a perfect compliment to the couples attire.
After shooting a bit around the shops of Park Circle we drove to Riverfront park. With the dock, bright blue sky and reeds this image seems like of snapshot of Charleston summer… you’d never imagine that it was about 50 degrees and the winds were howling! Pour Sarah Nell was freezing in her turquoise dress but comes across looking effortlessly relaxed and comfortable!
Don’t they look cute together?
One of the last shots of the day, a very cute and intimate moment between the two!
As Sarah Nell works for the North Charleston Mayors office she knows the area well and led us up to the old Admirals house that overlooks the park. The building is in complete disrepair but it is this state that makes it so magical and fascinating. The light streaming through the trees was absolutely beautiful and it was there that we caught this playful picture of the couple.
Zoooom in on the ring!
Cabin Fever!
This next set is hands down our favorite of the day. Imagine if the boy and girl figures come to life at night. What would they do? Why kiss of course!
Until next time, kiss kiss!

Elva Fields Jewels February 5, 2010
Often times brides seek our opinion on wardrobe choices for engagement shoots and sometimes even for advice on where to find the perfect hair accessory or jewelry. So today we wanted to share our absolute favorite jewelry company that we usually suggest to brides. Elva Fields is our favorite designer to recommend as her pieces are completely unique. Made from recycled and vintage finds the designer crafts works of art. Visit her website or blog to see some of these beauties for yourself. (And if you look closely on her blog you may come across a Valentine’s Haiku that our assistant Gillian sent in for a contest.)
I mean, how beautiful is that?

Opening Party for Bella Vista February 5, 2010
Yesterday we went to the opening party of the Charleston Bella Vista bridal boutique. It was fun change of pace getting to see all of the dresses brides have to choose from. Bella Vista is a really attractive new boutique and we can’t imagine how hard it is for brides to choose just ONE dress from their wide selection. If you need inspiration or just haven’t found “the” dress yet visit their new store off King St. or in Columbia.
